LEGO Programming Matlab

Get acquainted with the fundamentals of 3D construction, programming concepts, electrical and mechanical engineering while making an intelligent robot that can perform complex interconnected tasks.

MATLAB® is a high-level language and interactive environment for numerical computation, visualization, and programming. Using MATLAB, you can analyze data, develop algorithms, and create models and applications. The language, tools, and built-in math functions enable you to explore multiple approaches and reach a solution faster than with spreadsheets or traditional programming languages such as C/C++ or Java™.

The LEGO Mindstorms NXT is a "robotics system" composed of sensors, motors, and an embedded processor, the "NXT brick." Design and build different robots types such as driving bots and soccer-playing bots using LEGO's® MINDSTORM® NXT robotics kit.

Using MATLAB® learn to connect lines of code on a computer screen to concrete actions in the world. Experience the power of code outside the computer screen, in the real world around you. You will get to use LEGO's open programming interface to send commands through a Bluetooth wireless link and make your robot follow complex patterns when scooting around the room, bumping off the walls or playing sounds. Compete with your peers in exciting robot challenges.

At the end of the camp, make a video presentation of your project for the world to see. You are also automatically entered into the DesignThink Expo with the chance to personally show case your project.

  • Age •This camp is most suitable for ages 15+ innovators and wizards interested in science & technology, machines & engineering, construction and presentation.
  • Pre Requisite •No prior robotics experience, algebra or programming experience required.
  • Camp Day Plan •Apart from the core program, the camp day plan is well rounded and includes daily warm up activities, energizers, team building and creativity contests.
  • Participants •6 to 12 participants per camp.

Drone Engineering

In this hands-on course students pilot their first drone. Students will be given the foundation of CAD, collaborative problem solving, problem-based learning integrating different STEAM areas such as design, engineering, computer science, and electronics.

Advanced LEGO Robotics with Robot C

Create remote controlled vehicles, machines and out of the world (alien) moving objects using LEGO and Robot C. Choose a project; then, design, build, program, test and play. Work in teams to build a part of the robot and bring together all the various pieces created individually by all team members to complete the robot.

BEAM Robotics

The word "beam" in BEAM robotics is an acronym for Biology, Electronics, Aesthetics, and Mechanics.

Design mechanical robots using principles of hydraulics, pneumatics, servos and controllers. Learn to program your robots. Work with engineering tools; apply the principles of levers, gears and pulleys.
